In this episode Felisin, Heboric, and Baudin take the worlds worst road trip. Mappo and Icarium find a boat. Fiddler, Apsalar, and Crokus find a road. And Kalam…is around. And there’s this whole rebellion thing. It’s a big deal.
Predictions:
- Otataral is not simply an element that mutes magic. Instead it is a superior form of magic that mutes magic from inferior warrens.
- The situation with the Coltaine’s wagon train of civilian refugees is going to get ugly. I know that Coltaine has been pitched as a highly competent commander, but he is just in an awful situation.
- We’ll see more characters start to merge in later chapters of the book. I’m looking for Toblakai and Leoman to show back up when one of the group discovers them. I suspect that Kulp will find Felisin and crew.
- Fiddler mentions Tremolor in a way that makes me think that this is where the Deadhouse Gate will arise. I thought it would be where Iskaral Pust is located, but now I’m beginning to think that isn’t the case.
- Tremolor is inside of some warren.
- The Name Theory: Characters with terrible names die right away, those with good names come back around.
Our next episode will cover Chapters 8 and 9 of Deadhouse Gates by Steven Erikson.
