I don’t know about you, but I have imaginary conversations with fictional people all the time. I’ve had more than a few heart-to-hearts with our leading gentleman, Kvothe, addressing the many ways in which he is rather stupid. I do this because I love him, and sometimes love needs to be tough. In this cartoon, I take him to task over his inability to understand the concept of the Sleeping Mind.
One of my favorite aspects of the Kingkiller Chronicles is the magic system. I’ve said it on the podcast, and I’ll say it here again. The magic system in this series just feels so real. Like if I concentrate hard enough I should be able to manage a triple binding myself someday. Maybe a double. When Elodin talks about the Sleeping Mind, I can almost feel it. Am I the only one? Does anyone else ever feel as though you have another consciousness behind the one you use to interact with the world?
