We did it! We read a book! The whole thing. No cheating this time.
In this episode we cover the last several chapters of The Name of the Wind. In these chapters Denna gets a new man. Well, several really. Ambrose gets a new cast. And Kvothe gets a new lute. Kvothe finally gets expelled from the University and that turns out to be a complete non-story.
What do you do when a zombie knocks on your door. Well, if you’re Kvothe, you invite them in and offer them a place to stay. They’ll kill your friend, but you wouldn’t want to seem rude now would you?
Kvothe finally finds his way into the archives. And Bast reveals a huge secret!
Predictions: No Predictions this time as we’re saving those for the next episode.
Important Show Note: In this episode we talk about our plans for the upcoming weeks. However, we’ve decided to change the plan. We were going to take a break before starting The Wise Man’s Fear but we’ve decided that we’re just going to get straight into it. Initially, we wanted to cover Game of Thrones in exclusive episodes. But, unfortunately, we’re going to be gone for two…and maybe three…weeks of the GOT season. Considering that it’s only a seven episode season we’d end up missing nearly half the season. So, onward and upward.

P. Roth says he is actually removing the use of “shim” in the 10th Anv edition b/c he did not know it was derogatory when be wrote it. He heard it on BBC and put it in without realizing the meaning.
A note for Liz the part about Auri giving Kvothe a wooden ring definitely made my ears perk up. I havent made it this far in my re-read but I will definitely be paying attention there.

Oh, so “shim” is a derogatory word in the real world? I didn’t realize that either. Thanks for that insight.
